The green color stands for hope, the white stands for purity, and the red stands for the  unity of the nation.  The eagle devouring the serpent stands for the Aztec heritage. Legend says that an ancient god  named Quetzalcoatl told the Aztecs that they should build their city where they saw an eagle devouring a serpent. The capital of Mexico is Mexico City. Mexico has a population of 91,840,000 people. The main Mexican cities are Guadalajara, Monterrey and Puebla. The official language is Spanish. Mexico is located in North America and shares a border with the United States and with Guatemala. Mexico has 31 states and one federal district which contains the capital, Mexico City. Mexican culture is a mixture of Spanish and Indigenous culture.
